Ten Years of Protomartyr

I go on a lot about Australian music, but my favorite band is from Michigan.

Why haven't I posted anything about them in more than ten (!) years? I guess I almost feel it doesn't need to be said. You either get it and you know, or you don't.

But other people do know, you can tell. For example, some recent comments by David Bazan on Bandcamp Daily totally resonated with me.

It’s like pop music in an extreme way, but not in a way that people who like pop music would [associate with]... They’re one of the few bands that, when I see them play, I feel something that I can’t help but describe as—and I really don’t like this word—something ‘spiritual.’

I got to see Protomartyr again last night. They played so many favorites that it really hit me how much their music has meant to me in the past decade of my life. To honor the occasion, here are some bad concert photos from over the years.
